Male mallards look very colorful with their bright iridescent green heads and yellow bills whereas females look a bit boring with their grey heads and dirty bills. Apparently they were hiding their beauty under their wings. Look at the stunning purple-blue speculum patch in their wings when they land on the water. (March 21, 2020.)
