In a lazy late afternoon, Chris and I happened to witness a horrifying but fascinating scene at a corner of the retention ponds. Nearly a dozen of black vultures along with a few turkey vultures were intensely pushing and pulling a hairy carcass, which turned out to be an opossum. Vultures eat mostly dead animals. Black vultures often follow turkey vultures, who possess a keen sense of smell and are able to well locate carcasses, unlike black vultures. Obviously, these lazy black vultures were having a blast with the food found by their friends. Check out the full story of our encounter with vultures (March 9, 2020.)
